Funding in response to the Pakistan floods has increased by US$100 million since Dan’s crisis briefing yesterday (19 August) to reach US$428 million. Just over US$253 million of this has been committed directly to the UN appeal for US$459 million.

Over 50 governments have responded so far – the largest contributions have come from the United States (US$102 million), Saudi Arabia (US$65.3 million), the United Kingdom (US$40.9 million) and Australia (US$30.6 million) – and this same group of donors has now pledged a further  US$150 million between them. The European Commission has also pledged a further US$80 million in addition to its US$12.7 million contribution.

This Excel file contains some data and graphs on overall funding commitments/contributions and pledges. Which government donors have provided funding and how much have they given? Which sectors are being funded? How does funding compare on a day-by-day basis in comparison to other large-scale emergencies? We have summarised this in this PowerPoint presentation (PDF).
