Lydia leads the conflict and the military workstream and co-leads the pilot stage of Development Initiatives’ work on the scale of humanitarian needs.

Lydia joined DI in 2009 with more than five years experience working in programme management of public health programmes in Sierra Leone, Myanmar, Darfur and Southern Sudan and in a humanitarian coordination role with UN OCHA. In her work with UN OCHA in Southern Sudan Lydia coordinated more than thirty interagency humanitarian assessments, led the UN coordination of the humanitarian response to severe flooding in 2007 and managed the Emergency Response Fund. Lydia has also worked as an independent consultant authoring policy papers and programme evaluations on a variety issues around humanitarian assistance and civilian protection in insecure environments.

Lydia holds a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Cambridge and a Masters in Violence, Conflict and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies.
